Text Curator

Privacy Policy

Text Curator is designed around local processing. Your Messages content stays on your Mac unless you choose to export it somewhere yourself.

Effective date: September 2, 2026

Overview

Quirky Dreams! Software does not collect, transmit, sell, or share the content of your Apple Messages conversations through Text Curator. Text Curator does not use advertising, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or an account system.

Messages access

Text Curator asks you to choose the Apple Messages folder on your Mac. This access is used to read the Messages database and locally available attachment files so Text Curator can display, search, organize, and export your conversations.

Text Curator opens the Messages database read-only and does not modify the original Messages database or source attachments.

Contacts

If you allow Contacts access, Text Curator uses Contacts locally to replace phone numbers and email addresses with familiar names. Contact data is not uploaded to Quirky Dreams! Software. If you do not grant Contacts access, Text Curator can continue to work using phone numbers or email addresses instead.

Local search index and app data

To improve performance and remember your choices, Text Curator may create local app data on your Mac, including:

This data is stored locally on your Mac and is not transmitted to Quirky Dreams! Software.

Exports

When you export a conversation to PDF, Word, or CSV, you choose where the exported file is saved. Exported files remain under your control. Text Curator does not upload exported files to Quirky Dreams! Software.

Attachments

Text Curator only uses attachment files that are available locally on your Mac. It does not automatically download missing iCloud attachments. When an attachment is unavailable locally, Text Curator may help you locate the surrounding conversation in Apple Messages so that you can choose whether to download it there.

Image masking is applied to Text Curator's rendered or exported copies and does not alter the original attachment.

Apple Maps links

If a Messages conversation contains an Apple Maps location share, Text Curator may display a cleaner, human-readable location label. When you click it, macOS opens the original Apple Maps link. Text Curator does not geocode the address or send it to Quirky Dreams! Software.

Data collection

Text Curator does not collect personal data for Quirky Dreams! Software. In particular, Text Curator does not transmit your Messages, Contacts, search terms, masking choices, attachments, exported files, or usage history to us.

Retention and deletion

Text Curator's local app data remains on your Mac until you delete it, uninstall related local files, or use Text Curator's Delete Text Curator Local Data and Quit command.

That command removes Text Curator's local search index, saved masking data, saved searches, stored Messages-folder permission, and sample archive. It does not delete Apple Messages, Contacts, or exported files you created.

Third parties

Text Curator does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. The app may ask macOS to open user-selected files or links using normal system services.

Children

Text Curator is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not directed to children.
